Working from home during a worldwide pandemic has been an unforgettable experience. Located in NYC, Governor Cuomo had shut down all of the city to save beds for COVID patients in hospitals. As a result that meant Neinstein Plastic Surgery was no longer able to see patients in office.
As a nurse, working from home is a new world for me. I am used to running around, setting up equipment in the operating room, and taking care of patients as they recover. We all have gone through different stages, physically, emotionally, and mentally. It’s a new world where “ going to the gym to decompress” isn’t an option. For me, a routine is critical. I continued to wake up close to my standard time, worked out, and cleaned up all before our first-morning phone call. Having a team meeting for me was structure and something I looked forward to. It helped us all remain goal-oriented and organized. Throughout the workday, I would reach out to post-operative patients, schedule new injectable and surgical consult patients, and work on setting up our new EMR or electronic medical record system. Reaching out to post-operative patients was vital for me to maintain this relationship, I usually have in the office and seeing their progress.
While this has been very out of my regular role, I have been genuinely humbled by this worldwide pandemic, grateful for my health, and my ability to take care and comfort those through modern technology. With that being said, I am very excited to return to the office at Neinstein Plastic Surgery, keeping social distancing and safety precaution at the forefront at all times.
