Choosing the ideal breast implant size is a difficult decision. Many women deliberate over the exact implant volume that will help them achieve ‘the look’ they desire. Breast implant volume is measured in cc’s or ml. Simply a number of cc’s does not provide a very helpful visual guide for most women.

You may have a friend with breast implants and be tempted to use her size as a guide for how big you might want to go. It is important to consider that two same- sized implants will provide a dramatically different result in women with two different frames and pre-existing breast volumes.

So, how will you choose the breast implant that’s the right size for you? The good news is, plastic surgery is a visual field, so photos can help! Providing photos that demonstrate the type of ‘look’ you’d like to achieve is a great way to ensure you and your plastic surgeon are on the same page.

These photos are often referred to as ‘inspo photos’ or inspiration photos. These images can play an invaluable role in size selection. They also help facilitate communication about the type of aesthetic you are trying to achieve.

Before you start searching “Did Kendall Jenner have breast augmentation” or “Does Kate Hudson have breast implants” only to become frustrated by being unable to find an answer, don’t fret! Photos of your favorite celebrity or influencer can be a great communication tool, regardless of whether or not they actually have breast implants. The main goal is to provide a visual image of your ideal breast aesthetic to your surgeon.

So, rather than endlessly searching to investigate whether your favorite celebrity or influencer has breast implants, focus on finding a few representative photos that demonstrate the size and shape you’d like to achieve with your breast augmentation.

Lucky for you, photos of celebrities and influencers are readily accessible. Photos that capture plunging necklines and show off the decolletage area are ideal. Swimsuit shots are also very helpful. The more of the breast that is visible, the better the photo will help communicate your wishes.

Equally as helpful, are photos of what you DO NOT want your breast augmentation to look like. Diving into the details of what it is you don’t like about these photos will also strengthen your communication about your desired results.

In addition to reviewing your inspiration photos, your plastic surgeon will consider additional factors like existing breast volume and size of your underlying frame to help determine the ideal size to meet your aesthetic goals.
